1. This story is based on the theme of casteism. ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਜਾਤੀਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ।

2. Upper class and untouchable people lived in the village of this story. ਇਸ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਅਤੇ ਅਛੂਤ ਲੋਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।

3. In this story untouchable people are victimised by the hatred of upper class people. ਇਸ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਅਛੂਤ ਲੋਕ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

4. Untouchable are very poor people in the village. ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਛੂਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ।A strand of cotton theme

5. There was a brahman teacher in this village who also belonged to the upper class. ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਵੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਦਾ ਸੀ।

7. So he gives the tuition to the low caste boy to earn some extra money. ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਧੂ ਪੈਸੇ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤ ਦੇ ਲੜਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਊਸ਼ਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

8. He occasionally thinks about himself that he should not be born in the Brahmin family. ਉਹ ਕਦੇ-ਕਦਾਈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।

9. Thus, upper caste people dominated the village. ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਚ ਜਾਤੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਬਦਬਾ ਸੀ।

10. The village headman also belonged to the upper class. ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਮੁਖੀਆ ਵੀ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਸੀ।

15. Sita ram was a low caste boy. ਸੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤ ਦਾ ਲੜਕਾ ਸੀ।

16. His mother was a prostitute in delhi. ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਸੀ।

19. If his mother did not send her money to her son, then Sita Ram is bound to do labour work. ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਸੇ ਨਾ ਭੇਜੇ ਤਾਂ ਸੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪਾਬੰਦ ਹੈ।

20. He had to stop going to school. ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਕੂਲ ਜਾਣਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ।

21. But he was going to that school in which upper caste boys study. ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚ ਜਾਤੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ।

22. This is the main reason that upper class boys hate him. ਇਹੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

23. One day an upper class boys captured him near the temple and killed him. ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਇੱਕ ਉੱਚ ਜਮਾਤੀ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

24. Even in the election, sentiments of caste were used by the representative of the election. ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਤ-ਪਾਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।

25. Even the upper class had decided about the low caste that they cannot go to temple. ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਨੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।

26. They also raised the slogan : “Mahatma Gandhi Ki Jai”. ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ‘ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਕੀ ਜੈ’ ਦਾ ਨਾਅਰਾ ਵੀ ਲਗਾਇਆ।

31. The casteism was so high in the village that the murder case was not allowed to be taken to a city court. ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਤੀਵਾਦ ਇੰਨਾ ਵੱਧ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਤਲ ਕੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

32. The headman addressed a gathering of villagers. ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ।

33. Because he wanted the case of murder to be decided in the village on the basis of blood money to be given to the individual castes. ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕਤਲ ਦੇ ਕੇਸ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਗਤ ਜਾਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਲੱਡ ਮਨੀ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
